Lois and Orvid Olson

Lois and Orvid Olson – Olson's Iris Garden

In the early 1980s I became interested in hybridizing after someone showed me how to make crosses. We have very limited space - just a home garden. Catherine Gates of Long's gardens kindly grows some of my seedlings so they can be introduced, So far I have six introductions: ‘Tintinnabulation,’ ‘Windswept Heights,’ ‘Burning Blue,’ ‘Ruth Irene,’ ‘Ethel Mae,’ and ‘Sunlit Windows.’ I thought I was looking for pink with a blue beard or a clean pink plus blue but that is not what I have come up with. Oh well, surprises are nice too. My husband, Orvid, has joined me in this effort and plans to have something of his own soon. I don't think he is looking for pink and blue, however.
